Again this year, the Whidbey Island Kite Festival will shine the spotlight on various aspects of single-line kitemaking. Twice each day, we will hold a judged mass ascension of a specific type of kite. This will be in a designated area on Field B. All people are invited to fly, but you must wear a wristband to enter the flying field. Please register for your wristband at the main tent. There is no cost to register for these flies, but certain kite-safety guidelines must be followed on the flying fields.
For each “challenge”, there will be a judging panel made up of experienced flyers and the public. The favorite two kites will be awarded a limited-edition pin. This pin is awarded only to the winners of these challenges, and is not part of the regular pin set.
