Ellen Pardee
Portland, Oregon
- Kite maker and single line flyer since 1995
- Former Associated Oregon Kiter Board member
- Former Oregon Kitermakers Retreat Board member
- Taught a class in cutaway appliqué at Ft. Worden Kitemakers Retreat in 2004
Primary Focus:
My major focus in kite making is cutaway appliqué. Displaying art in the sky is a thrill every time I put a kite in the air!
New this year:
- "Shasta", my new carousel horse delaporte kite.
- "Remember When . . . ?" is my 2006 project. This is a series of seven
(to date) rokkaku kites displaying silhouettes of scenes from the "olden
days." I made "Dune Babies" in 2005 and in 2006 have added the
rest.
- 11' Delta "Starry Skies"
- Circoflex "The Magic Carousel"
Returns from last year:
- The frog bog - - my arch of 51 frog kites, plus Frieda, Fritz and Frank – all
frogs on kites with LOTS of frog windsocks as line art.
- The Seven Little Sisters
How to find me on any flying field:
Look for:
- My display of 14' banners depicting historical and fictional clowns and circus
scenes. I probably won't be far away.
- My giant jug—filled with water. Of, course.
